FAQs

JJCurated is a curated collection of distinctive furniture, objects and contemporary craftsmanship from Asia, especially from Thailand. We work with selected artisans, artists, workshops and makers whose work stands out for its craftsmanship, materiality and individual character.

Our collection is intentionally selective. We look for pieces we genuinely believe in — objects that feel special, are made to last and bring something unexpected to an interior.

We source our collection personally and work directly with selected makers, workshops and artists across Asia, especially in Thailand. Rather than following a fixed catalogue, we look for exceptional craftsmanship, interesting materials and pieces with a strong identity.

Some designs are existing works we discover and select for JJCurated; others are developed or adapted specifically for our collection in close collaboration with the makers.

Our collection is produced by selected artisans, artists and specialist workshops across Asia, mostly in Thailand. The country of origin and relevant production details can be found on the individual product page.

We value direct relationships with the people behind the pieces and regularly visit our makers and workshops in person.

JJCurated is built around curation as much as sourcing. Over time, we have developed a network of makers, workshops and craftspeople, and some of these relationships form an important part of our own sourcing expertise.

Where a collaboration or artist is an integral part of the story of a piece, we are happy to share it. In other cases, we deliberately keep our production partners private.

Yes. Craftsmanship is at the heart of our collection. Our pieces involve a significant amount of handwork and are produced using specialist craft techniques, from hand-shaped ceramics and metalwork to brass casting, woodworking, bamboo craftsmanship and traditional glass techniques.

The exact process varies from piece to piece, and we describe the most relevant details on each product page.

Not always — and in many cases, that is part of its character.

Handmade pieces naturally show subtle variations in colour, glaze, texture, surface, shape or finish. Reactive ceramic glazes, natural materials, cast metals and other artisanal processes can produce particularly individual results.

We do not consider these small variations imperfections. They are part of the making process and mean that no two handcrafted pieces are completely identical.

We choose our production partners carefully and place a strong emphasis on materials, craftsmanship and finishing. Pieces are inspected as part of the production and sourcing process, with additional quality checks where appropriate.

Because much of our collection is handmade, our understanding of quality is not industrial uniformity. We look for excellent craftsmanship while preserving the characteristics that make a handmade object feel individual.

Many are unique in the truest sense of the word; others are produced in small quantities or by hand, meaning every piece will have its own nuances.

Our one-of-one Artist Editions are singular artworks: only one piece of that particular work exists. For handcrafted furniture and objects, variations in materials and making ensure that even pieces of the same design are never entirely identical.

Availability and the estimated delivery time are shown on the individual product page.

Some pieces are available from stock, while others are made to order. Due to the artisanal nature of our collection, quantities may be limited.

Made-to-order pieces are produced specifically after your order has been placed rather than being held as finished stock.

This allows our makers the time required for their craft and, for selected furniture, may also allow for a choice of finishes, fabrics or other specifications.

Many of the techniques used throughout our collection simply cannot be rushed. Pieces may pass through numerous stages of hand-forming, casting, glazing, firing, finishing or assembly before they are ready.

The estimated delivery time for each piece is displayed directly on its product page. These timeframes reflect the nature of genuine craftsmanship rather than mass production.

Selected furniture and made-to-order pieces can be customised. Depending on the design, this may include upholstery, fabrics, finishes or other details.

If you have something specific in mind, please contact us before ordering. We will be happy to discuss what is possible with the maker.

Possibly. Some designs can be produced again, while limited editions, one-of-one artworks and certain individual pieces cannot.

Please contact us if there is a sold-out piece you are interested in and we can let you know whether it may become available again.

Standard shipping is free within Austria and the EU.

Large or heavy furniture requiring freight shipping is excluded from free shipping. Where freight delivery is required, the applicable delivery arrangements and costs depend on the destination and the individual piece.

For eligible online purchases within the European Union, you have the statutory right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods.

The item must be returned in its original condition and should be carefully repacked for transport. Please contact us before sending anything back so that we can provide you with the appropriate return instructions.

Any applicable return restrictions will be communicated before purchase or stated in the relevant product information.

Please contact us as soon as possible and send us photographs of the item as well as the packaging.

We take great care in packing and transporting our pieces, but if something has gone wrong in transit, we want to know immediately so that we can assess the situation and find the appropriate solution.

Natural variations resulting from handcraftsmanship are not generally defects.

Small differences in glaze, colour, texture, patina, shape, grain or finish are inherent to many of the processes and materials we work with. If you are unsure about something you have received, however, please send us a photograph. We are always happy to take a look.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna and EPS.
Available payment methods may vary depending on your country and will be displayed at checkout.

Prices for customers within the European Union include applicable VAT. Tax treatment may differ for orders delivered outside the EU and will depend on the destination.

Care depends on the material and finish. Handmade ceramics, solid brass, natural wood, bamboo, glass and upholstered furniture all have different requirements.

Where a piece requires particular care, you will find guidance on the product page or with your order. If you are ever unsure, contact us before using a cleaning product or treatment — we would much rather advise you first.

Of course. If you are unsure about dimensions, materials, colours or whether a piece will work in your interior, please get in touch.
